Day 321
10:23 pm
–
the nuts and bolts of fragrance
–
1.
she always insisted on
sunflowers, they must
have represented her fire
and light, but I could
not be captured by the
void of more intoxicating
bait like plumeria! or
jasmine! or even rose!
but they were too femme
or too conventional and her
identity was stronger than
my desire or my will
2.
stale piss
attached to the
rubber of her wheelchair,
wooden eye sockets
leaned up against the
plastic moulding of
the home’s hallway,
I feared the only
thing Grandma would
leave me were her genes
and her scent
3.
It’s in the pillow
I always seek the pillow,
sniff out a future
