eye of the storm
–
my brother had this way of
whipping everyone around him
into a frenzied blaze of glory
he was the one yielding knives
of snot and tears that blasted
out ear drums of nosy neighbors
but as soon as the cops would
show up, he was the monk and
we looked like the crazy ones
after just a few times of this, I
knew he was the one who’d grow
up to be a successful actor,
with ma’s silence growing weeds,
I becoming the real reporter, the
neighbors, mannequin retirees
