Day 15
11:45 pm – 12:45 am

sun

you are ablaze
and
brazen
in your grasp
your unfair sum
of boundless heat
raises the temperature
of memory
teasing
and
taking hold
as if
my path
with you
is
elliptical
is the only
one
that matters
in this moment
is more benevolent
than i wish
you
to be
your
strength
is furtive
simply
deceptive
or
merely reveling
in a
revival
of
time
that will
refuse to
come to fruition
on the surface
of this
age
on this
day
not
a day
like today
the waters
are much
too
serene
for a sea change
so your
sun
will beat
heavily
down on my
spirit’s brow
for a time
for a few
days
making way
for waves
to dissipate
and
return
again
someday
in
reunion
brash
unannounced
and
daring in
its trepidation

And I’m back! Sorry about the lack of the mid-month comment last month. I was sorely lacking in both internets and interwebs. To those of you new to the session, I think it’s all pretty self-explanatory. Everyone gets a comment at least once a month. It’s my gift to you:

Goodness, that’s difficult to follow. Don’t we get any breaks? Maybe I’m just too much a fan of the punctuation. Still, I like the dialogue with the sun. There are some excellent ideas in this poem. I like “your sun will beat heavily down on my spirit’s brow” and “boundless heat raises the temperature of memory”. I almost feel the sun’s presence just by reading these lines.

Oh and the two links ahead of this one are broken. I can’t seem to access them. Just to let you know.
