Day 25
1:05 pm – 2:00 pm

where

i may not believe in the existence of a place
where you may be today
but i do wonder

you are floating around
somehow in some way
you are positioned in a corner

spying, watching, looking,
checking on
me

you are that broad stream
of blue
that man said he could see

around my shoulder
a network
he said

a system
of protectors
he can read aura

so he says
as it did rain like sudden thunder
as soon as the door opened

when he spoke
i turned to look
and it did indeed feel like you were there

already years ago
my chest still presses in
pushes out tears like sudden rain

when i see a man with a grandchild
or an older father with his adult daughter
i wonder how much time they have left

together
we were a pair
you and i

when i was four
extending my arms only to you
insistent through whimpers

that you carry me
do you know i recall
my reliance on you

do you remember
look at me,
talking to you

as if you are still here, around
the fact is
no one knows

sometimes belief
is what we convince ourselves
will suffice

odd, isn’t it
all those times you read
my writing about mom

you asked her not to say
you told her how often
you felt left out

how funny
after your death
so much of you

shows up in my writing,
about you, for you,
so you must be smiling

or how ironic and utterly blue
you have no idea
now that you are gone

how much
of what i write is about you
so you’ll never know
