Day 90
12:15 pm – 12:38 pm

Handful of sand
Holes in fish nets
Hearts lacking oxygen

Heaps of tears
Hair pulled to knots
Hands missing fingerprints

Hold off for today
Hang on to dreams a bit longer
Hapless triggers can wait for tomorrow

The elf made mushrooms for soup
Teeny monster munchkins opened their mouths
Mm, mm, good

Every creature from the dust mites to the tree branches
Smiled by the wayside of the street that day

There is our hero!
She stamped the soil to release nutrients in to
The vegetables – oh, vegetables! –
And made a soup that smelled so saturated with life
As to wake us out of our hunkering hunger
We are not hungry anymore!

Ah, said the elf
Eat, eat, eat and eat well
The soup is hot, you see,
It is for you
Eat now
