Day 102
7:15 pm – 8:01 pm

Bachan today

On December 11
she died at the age of 102
so i am trying
to channel the spirit
of my Bachan

As i am paying attention
to my voice,
what i drink,
how i walk,
I notice she is
in every number
i calculate

just as she
falls down the side
of my hand
as oil drips from the sauce,
urging me,
tend to
what is stirring

just as she
smiles at me
through the growing collection
of lines on my face,
advising me,
laughing through life
comes with age

just as she has always been,
singing old songs,
teaching me,
dig past the surface of history
and laugh
against the inevitable
struggle ahead
