Day 113
9:01 pm – 10:01 pm

my country…edit

my country, ’tis of thee
hard land for liberty, of thee i sing
land where my father died
land where my mother cries
from every mountainside, let freedom ring

my native sisters, breathe
we will create our dreams, my pledge to you
i love thy strength and ease
thy earth and fluid breeze
hearts filled with raging bliss, ’til freedom dawns

let our art raise the roar
bring on a forest’s score and oceans’ song
let peoples’ tongues unleash
lead all who seek to speak
let walls our actions break, the effort long

all peoples’ spirits linked
we’ll write our liberty, with thee i sing
long may our love be bright
with freedom’s peaceful light
protect us through the fight, great lives we heed

(My Country, ‘Tis of Thee – Samuel F. Smith, 1808-1895)
