Day 141
12:09 am – 12:28 am

’round the corner

somewhere near here
is a steamy sedan
tinted by the heat of
two lovers
probably around the corner
on Budlong in back of Vons
they’re sitting there
listening to Babyface
and laughing about 1988
hearts beating
not able to fully relax
eyes on the digital green
pulse displaying
the late hour
and what a pain
but the air is
spiced up just fine
by the urgency
to be together
and the chance
of a visit
from Officer Friendly
which might not be
so bad because
they’d have another
good laugh much later
when looking back
at what the hell
were they doing
that night in that
parking lot
when there was
somewhere they could
have gone
like Jack In The Box
or 22nd Street in
but who wants
fast food
or sandy shoes
or wasting time
while just wanting
to get back in the car
and fog up the windows
