Day 164
2:10 pm – 2:23 pm

student space

she wails
in class
makes a visiting professor
initiate an internal debate
on how far and long this
should be allowed to go on

she needs
a venue
so she takes the opportunity
to make class her open mic
and the other students sit and
stew either in anger or awe

she takes
up space
and suddenly the guest artist
wishes to be a mere observer
and certainly not the therapist
or the jester holding a cane

ponzu

you always
have a place
at my table
but
sometimes you
are too tart
for my taste
and
i wish you were easier
on the palate, sitting
still and pretty
like the sesame sauce
