Day 166
5:40 pm – 6:03 pm

sunshine

soft
and still

your
warmth
poured over
and nudged me
awake today,
my little love,
and
my
morning
wish was
that i hadn’t
asked the
doctor
to reopen
the carrier
to let me
hug you
one
last time

for my arms
still feel
the burden
of your
limp body
the night
you
were taken
away
and
i
keep my
eyes shut
wishing for
the sensation
of your
strength and
feisty resistance
to return
