Day 195
6:43 pm

Shadow of a Woman

that

she’s a lot better now

hangs up her clothes
throws away her snotty kleenex
plans trips that have nothing
to do with searching for answers
that are trapped in orbit

that

we can breeze through a quick conversation
without something else needing to be said

that i can hang up the phone
or ring her doorbell
without finding myself lingering
in singularity

i never want to see
that one again

that

thing
the part that became her

barely standing
just floating around like the spirit
she claimed to embody

approaching a moment
of becoming
enveloped,
completely
blocked between her
inner and outer core

so often
i wondered

to which side
of the event horizon
was she

that

i hope

forever
is gone

the body knows

bits of pain dot themselves along my clavicle
flashes protruding from underneath the skin
like twitches from below my right eye last Friday

the conscious mind might ask what the hell is
happening for simply resting and doing nothing
to sit up and feel the meeting of thunder to bone

it is a sign of age, so my mother would say
these years go fast, first by the year, then by five,
then ten, and before you know it you’re seventy

if we can keep going, like blazing stars pushing
through time, like there is no such thing as age

what is left but to keep moving, like lightning

Gravity

choose
to
sink
down
far
beneath
where
war
eclipses
breath
and
we
are
there
again
at
the
beginning
of
begging
of
raising
of
wondering
what
it
will
take
that
makes
it
worth
your
election

    i like and then i share….

He spends all his time thinking about his future,
Resume-what does that job pay? Wall Street, hire me-
I’ve got to work hard-shoot at that golden parachute,
Jump-make sure both feet land firmly on the ground,
    Shhhhhhhh-dreams don’t make a sound,
I’ve got to touch up this resume.
