Day 200
10:27 pm

little boy blue

little George
liked to roll
in clay and foliage

dreamt of haystacks
he’d make for
his very fibrous breakfast

a hearty mixture
of leaves from the
leyland cypress,
tulip poplar,
and, oh my,
the green giant

boy oh boy
did he like
prancing around
the green giant

but big George
would have none
of it

he caught the little
one mid-fantasy and
shook it right out of him

I don’t care, son,
what you think
I think you’re doing

but there will be no
fancy pretend play,
dancing or daydreaming

buck up, son
play with these
goddamn toy guns
I gave you on Christmas

do as I say ‘cuz
one day I’m going to
make you the president
