Day 208
12:38 am – 1:07 am

in the midst of remembrance, mourning,
it is natural to come upon a silence in
the sound of several reverends chanting
through an extended funeral procession

a sustained chorus of notes and breathing
waft over us, at first strong and opaque,
before drifting into transparency
like the line of family and friends
coming to pay their respects
like the smoke of incense
like memory
