Day 218
12:08 am

(felonious) unlocking

the words of Adam Carolla
do not scare me

that he has a fan base
does

they exist to remind
us the way of the world

where he and his fans
lodge fire and
laugh in our faces
to take
advantage of
their freedom to speak

because they can

.

.

today
i found a key
under the hat of
a feisty brown elf

he had a round smile
with an empty belly
and
he wore a jersey
that said
Los Angeles

he said to take
this key to
open a large
door at the edge of
downtown

beyond it was a place
where the people had more
keys

every single soul
had

dangling from
their belt
a big circle metal ring
full of
keys
to dances
to songs
to poetry

there was no
I can’t
or
I wish
or
helplessness

just simply
the beautiful click
from the sound
of
unlocking

and a simultaneous
burial ceremony

the placing
of lids
on all the words
that attempt to cut
deep and
drag our dignity
through the mud

the grace of
brushing to the
wayside
all that covers
our beauty
and chips at
the ability
to concentrate on
the release of our
stories

for there are so
many

and so little time
to be mired by
the jolly hatred
of a little troll
with a radio
show and a
few fans

the people present
tonight
had no time for
them

they just
blew magic bubbles
into the air
and filled time
with the
enjoyment of
each other in
this lovely
unlocked
hidden
gem
