Day 231
12:32 am

song rider

three fingertips touch the keys of her piano

clink clink clink

clink clink clink

a hummmm
comes out
and resonates
at the back of her throat
before it cracks
and drops
toward the floor

clink clink

and moments pass in silence

then
a
chord
forms

alongside another hummmm

tinkering tickles the thin air
swirling the room that
has been hushed into
a tall aluminum lamp and
five candles of varying
weights and ages
becoming lazy in
front of her

and she hopes for the flood to come

it
always
does

so
she
sits

unplugged

and hums
and breathes in
and out
and hums
and waits
for what’s inside
to come out
and
shower over her
