Day 242
6:50 pm

74, 75

Dad was 73, going on 74
by western calendar
when we learned of
his cancer

i asked him how he was feeling
on his 74th birthday
and he told me
I want to make it to 75

i was sure he would

Until a month later
when he was up and gone
vanished
like a whirlwind catching
a dandelion i could not
keep in my grasp

It wasn’t until a couple
months after
31, going on 32, i
thought of how Dad once said
by lunar calendar
when you are born, you
are already a year old

It hit me right then

Pop, you made it to 75

i wish i remembered that
just a couple months before

i could have told that to him

He would have really liked to
hear me say that
