Day 253
1:35 am

To wonder of wonder

A high school student
named Rose
who wants to be an
illustrator

That is what I know
of her

But to wonder

Upon meeting
for the first time

To wonder of one’s
Eyes

Or of their smile

Their dreams

Or what they ate for
breakfast this morning

Before they rushed to school
and bounced off whatever
wind brought them through
my open door
this late afternoon

Where i sit at the back
of this little shop
with a few books
on a table
and art hanging
everywhere

The only thing Rose asked
was whether these artists
were from around here

This space has today
become a map
where she seeks
to place and
find herself

That much I can tell

But to wonder
of her artist growing
inside

Of the source
for the light beaming
from the back
of her eyes

And to wonder of
her return

I wonder that still

the DIY everything couple

Chocolate milk and
Coffee doughnut doodles
Make the luscious couple
Eyeball burp all the way
Through everything
They touch as all were
Made by the craft of their
Hands
Every book, flyer, sticker,
Cake, flower arrangement,
Drawing, painting, hat
You see swirling around
Their heads is the product of
Them
Their longing to be free,
To lift the light to their
Surroundings, to simply
Create their own
Reality

(for a and a)
