Day 285
3:30 pm

Cave Day

When the chores
have come to pass
and we are all done
with everything
Breathe breathe breathe
because it’s
Cave Day

Let’s slip into a little
hole at the side of
El Segundo

Draw fire to the pit
for the sake of warmth
and the ritual of
Burning marshmallows

Brush sand against our cheeks
and pretend all the best are still
with us dancing around the

Make believe we are just kids
and all the heroes came here
to celebrate and sing and eat
and smile and just be and be
For once and
For All
at least
For today

What better time to crawl into
The Hole
Because, here ye here ye and yay,
It’s Cave Day

(in memory of W.J.D.)
