Day 294
6:10 pm

where did it go?

I am chasing a poem I read once
out of someone’s book
in some store in Seattle

It spoke something of heartbreak,
shards and eggshells

I can neither remember it in its
entirety nor forget it altogether

I run towards and away from it,
hoping it will come back
through my own words,
through my own experience,
the way it resonated
deep enough to remember
wanting its influence for myself,
as we are all influenced by each
other whether we like it or not,
as we chase what is perhaps
ours now
and yet never was
