Day 299
10:30 am

Fresh in the soil

Her hands are fresh in the soil

Dirty to the touch of a life
manufactured but green
to the earth surrounding her
on this auspicious day of
Growing something

No matter what comes of it
what comes of rain
and heat
and storm
what comes of the uncomfortable
winds of change

No matter what comes of the
mealy worms or pouncing cats
She just knows she needs
to plant something
so come Fall there will be
a humble forest
and come Spring there will be
a heart harvest
and come Summer
there will be forgiveness

She has gone too long
in a drought of the love
she offers to herself
Instead she has given all to
all others

She wakes today
Naked to her own garden

It is time to water
and release odd seeds
to the patches of ripe land
in front of her

For her hands
for her feet and skin
her clocks and paper
her spirit and fire
It is time
for her to be fresh in the soil

.

.

(for S.
and all the garden gyrls)
