Day 325
9:13 pm

the Nisei in her

my ma taught me early on
the value of entering a house
with something in hand
to be
to be a good guest

but she is a much better host
deserving of such gifts

we are dirty here
clean only upon the
presence of a gathering

running around with a
vacuum cleaner minutes
before scheduled shindigs

it is not so much with ease
but mom
has a wicked preparedness
about her hosting

almost as a matter of attack

it is organized
it is pridefully neurotic
it is methodically comprehensive

it is Nisei

it is very Nisei
