Day 344
12:42 am

she as a certain victim,
is the strongest witness
to her targeted heart

swears in court of
her efforts to grow out
of needing him

but falls prey to the
overturned wreckage
in their backyard

trash like socks and bras,
books like diaries and
letters, collected, exposed,

ripped in to the open, torn,
and burned, she no longer
has possessions

only hers to his and his
over everything of hers,
so she has bags

tugging at her eyes,
emptied of their clues,
packed in unspoken space,

at the tip of fantasy when
she allows herself the
luxury of deep sleep

lays awake, forces herself,
knows, she must, stay
awake, until she is ready,

to dream
