Day 345
10:22 pm

Oscar’s hollering heart

fingertips crushed against keys
yelled out the
of his beating, beating,
thumping, thump, thump, dance

ran across those keys with
his soul on display for all but his

once laid his forehead to his piano,
listened to the play of another,
saw the near death of himself

near pause, near stopped,
but tap, tap, tap

forgave his fingers and the one
thing we can all be certain of,
our short short shortcomings

so he played and played
and played,
what else was there to do?

to beg of beginning again
to tickle the keys with longing

to play just to hear
the hollering
strings of his heart
