Day 12
2:05 am

Tug of War / You didn’t say anything

The wood worms
Approach us

Just as we wake from
A sleep so deep we were too
Drunk upon awakening to
Remember exactly where
We are

They love to strike
Right then
And there

Spew a few daggers
As they turn their backs

They trot away
A minute too soon
Leaving us with our
Mouths hanging close
To the ground

Bottom dwellers right back
To where they came from

We are left to contend
With our shadows

So what now?

Fight with them
for their hatred
Or lash at ourselves
for our silence?

At the end of it,

Who do we forgive
