Day 33
3:10 am

Pale / wonder love ice

Months, years, afternoons,
can drain the color from
relationships, so
it seems, or so I recall

But we are tanned,
dark, bloody, charred,
burnt to perfection
I want to stick my head

through the water filter,
pour my mind out into
ice trays and freeze little
contemplation cubes

Separate the wonder love ice
from the stream of sorrow
consciousness that ponders
over how long this will last

Drink in the refreshment
we’ve doled into each others
cups, let the rest melt in
the shade of our heat
