Day 52 – Privilege

October 22, 2010
Day 52
11:00 pm

Privilege

We talk of our struggles, ebb and
flow, like flash floods through the
gaping holes of our bank accounts

But we know of another fact

On a given Friday in
October
around 7:30 pm,

There was an actor onstage
as his friend watched their
short film on a festival big
screen down the street, next
door to their peers who were live
painting at an art show opening,
while far north a cohort screened
their web series a few blocks from
another actor on static trapeze,
just south of a poet among
academics to the west and
another among physicists
to the east

And we will all talk about these
events with each other sooner
or later, like thieves who have
stolen time for smiles and joy
and maybe bits of coin, with
knowing chuckles amongst us
as we are effervescent in our
enterprising schemes for
the truth about passion

We are the wealthy bastards

Dotted along the coast,
like
signals and lights

The
city
is

Stunning

And to take it all in
I find I can barely
breathe tonight
