Day 62
7:45 pm

She thought their
Was the stuff of
Joyful abandon,
Spices flung
From their fingers,
Cooking without recipe,

Until the day strangers
Dropped off a basket
At her front door
With a note
To check his cupboards,
Find the
Moths breeding,
Silverfish laying
Dead at the back of
His dusty shelf

She uncovered the science
Behind his
Worth of lies
Rotten ingredients

All that extra butter and
Sugar made his
Hidden agenda
Go down easy
Too much sweetness
Never leaves
A way for trust to

His was
An imperfect emulsion,
Hers was
The mold he could break,
Unbeknownst to her,
Time after time
