Day 75
2:13 pm

Asphalt chatter mixes with
steam and the espresso machine,
in between klatches of giggling girls
who are as clumsy with their iced
tea as they are with conversation,

Sitting in between all the eavesdropping
fodder, I think repeatedly of the sounds
you make, cooing with your kitten,
ravenous mumbling, motor-pitched
laughter, brazen bodily functions the
size of small bombs, wind-tunnel sighs
upon hitting the couch,

No matter my reaction, amusement to
feigned annoyance to horrific surprise,
it would be false for my smile to say
yours is nothing but pure,

Sweet noise
