Scale – 19 – time

1.

time and i have a
love-hate relationship

she must be an air sign,
too cool and unforgiving to
dwell in a moment for an
emotional Scorpio like me

i’d like to make her more like
earth, ground her, slow her down
from time to time,

or give her some fire, and see
her make a spectacle of herself,

perhaps she could exchange a
fleeting moment with an unforgettable
burst of light, freezing us like strobe
flashes of lightning

i have no idea how to measure her
much less seize her the way she
captures me, but i admit i am lost
in her and without her, fascinated by
her

rarely a day goes by i am not dreaming
of her, wanting more, unable to release
her from my mind

and she is more like me than she’d probably
care to admit – slippery, elusive like water,
hard to grasp

2.

if i could talk to
the four year-old
me
i’d tell her to either
avoid learning how to
tell time
or
learn how to tell time
off
altogether
