Day 138
10:57 pm

the eyes’ utterance – 1

their dog is on his path of
dying, this sweet soul
who gave birth to their
smiles long before the
beginnings of their own
children

but I know this, not from
her reporting of the Vet’s
analysis or how much of
his body can’t move, but

from her eyes, eyes of
the pup’s master, those
that muster each moment
of every memory leading
up to the exact point,

this time now, that she
wants to pause, or stop
altogether, from existing

those eyes, that ask me
when do you know while
the words’ utterance are
the indication…the ones
I can barely look into
without being led to the
end she so desperately
wishes not to see
