Day 139
2:36 pm

the eyes’ utterance – 2

all eyes on the best and worst
dressed, too busy to look at
the cashier while getting our
drugstore fixes, all the way
deliberate as we cast our gaze
away from the swollen face
holding an empty hand towards
us at the edge of the freeway
exit

is this our idea of living, of
uttering wishes, of the King’s
dream?
