hit pause on the moment
a basketball player is
near the finish of a lay-up
zoom in, if you can

lean in, if she lets you,
toward the student who
is sharing a secret
epiphany on the decision
to switch from Biology
to Drama and Asian
American Studies

gaze, as long as humanly
possible, at the man right
after hearing his diagnosis
of cancer, when he’s just
made the decision to

note forever,
