Day 146
4:10 pm; 9:44 pm

echoes in their gut

He knew she had apples stored at
the bottom of her gut

She knew he was hungry and
needed a lift

They did not know they knew new
love meant opening up, near
cutting her throat back in half

So he could be adventurous

So she could be supportive

They did not know they knew how
good it would feel only for the one
who reached all the way down to
grab everything in the path of his

So he did what he was used to

So she let him

They did not know they knew new
love could be so overwhelming

So he went along his way,
completely sated

So she was surprised to find
herself somewhere between
emptiness and needing to escape

(Riffing on Sumi B’s prompt,
“He made me feel like
I had no voice.”)
