Day 176
9:20 pm

survival – pennies

Today we’re going to kidnap
the parking meters on 2nd and
San Pedro, all of them, and
converse with the sidewalks

We’ll let them know no one’s
getting hurt tonight, we just need
them until Friday when we’ll
return them in their original state,
welcoming, approachable
with clear invitations for locals
and tourists alike

Rest assured, we even checked
with the meters and they are
avidly urging this kidnapping
and a return to their old image,
clunky, chunky and cheap
though it may have been

They miss their relationship
with pennies and can’t stand
being hated and treated like
the slick repellent jerks
they have come to seem
to be

WCC Day 23 – Week 4: Everything under the Rainbow
final week for the Women’s Creative Collective Writers’ Workshop

my sister 2

she wishes she wasn’t
so insecure but has no
fear blocking her honesty
about it with others

she hates her trust issues
but works to open her heart
in the same ways she
expects of her mind

she loves the
sound of her
sisters’ triumphs

and this
is why
i love her
