Day 181
11:57 pm

survival – kits 5

give me the crumpled receipt
you found in your old coat pocket,
the one you took out when you had
nothing else to write on,
the night you got beat up
and had to go to the hospital
and needed, if nothing else, to
while you waited for someone
to sew your ear back to
the top of your head

show me your secrets, the savory
ones from the least of quiet moments,
when you wished for the softness of
the mundane to consume your head

i will hold it, read it, share it with
no one
or with the world,
whatever you wish

i will take instructions on
how it is we live,
holding each others’ words,
unfolded in front of us
those words we left alone,
believing they were
better off dead
except for the part
when we crumpled them up but
kept them tucked in old coat pockets

WCC Day 28 – Week 4: Everything under the Rainbow
final week for the Women’s Creative Collective Writers’ Workshop

neither of us can
do this on our own

i need you to pull
my arms, my hair,

reach for my insides and
reveal them with love

how one unfolds the other
shows her truest colors

or else we sit, stagnant,
smothering each other

getting old or
growing no where

i want
every where

the entire

to find my reflection
in yours
