Day 224
1:30 am

Books – b.

b.

The
Literary Alliance
Issued a Memorandum
Of Understanding today
On the new use of book
Readers

In their recent battle against
Electronic obesity
The Alliance found it
Necessary to employ
Us
In order to save on the cost
Of building new structures
To replace the
Libraries who are
Accused of operating while

In a state of anemia

The findings by the Alliance
Are highly disputed but
So obviously
True

Hundreds of thousands of
Cases of material loss
Due to software and hardware
Meltdown
Have been recorded versus
An incredibly low reporting of
Paper falling prey to
Fire and other natural causes

The L.A.
Has thus decided on the only
Sane thing to do…Save the trees
For the books and bookshelves
Save the readers for the books
Save the electronics from
Themselves

From this day forward,
For every new book we
Crack open, the skies will
Form a double rainbow

For every old book we
Retrieve, the sun will evaporate
Two tons of radiation from the
Ocean

For every five pages turned
Our teachers will be released
From the shackles of
Their current
Standards
And be given the keys to
Critical teaching

For every ten chapters
Our kids will wake to
Complex melodies orchestrated
By shooting stars that fell
Asleep the night before to
Have their dreams woven into
Notes and rhythms
Only animals and children
Can hear as their sleepy
Hearts greet the morning

For every book we write
We will save one millionth of
The world

For the sake of the book,
For the sake of our souls,
For the sake of ourselves

Time to sign the M.O.U. now
