Day 232
10:59 pm

middle of nowhere

In the middle of nowhere,
I pick out a single strand
Of golden cat hair that
I know is yours

It survived time by
Hiding itself in between
Synthetic fibers of shirts
I don’t wear often

Then I am captured for
Minutes, feeling your paw
On my cheek, looking into
Your final eyes,

The hooks that locked on
To my heart and my regrets,
And I find where a piece
Of me remains frozen
