Day 238
3:00 pm, 11:15 pm, 12:40 am

the wrestler stays

some days
all i see is a bundle of
before me
and a wrestler in a onesie
jumping up and down
on the screen
telling me she
can’t wrestle for shit
in a onesie

i tell her i’ve spent all
day trying to write a poem
about a stick of bamboo
and a pair of construction boots
and either it’s the wrong
image or i just don’t really
want to write another one
about me bending
so far backwards
it didn’t matter
whether i was trampled
on by lead feet and steel toes

sometimes the wrestler stays
and the words have to go
