E – 5 – rewrite

Excavation

5. Unpacking
.

.
when he died
his daughter
decided
to eat
a magnifying glass,
a bunch of bones,
and a pen

she knew
she couldn’t digest
much else at the time
but these things
might be useful
for later

she woke up
a few days ago
to find the items
right next to her pillow,
right there, plop,
she figured it must have
plopped

popped out like nothing
in her sleep so she’d
come to learn that
swallowing
the stuff down
in the first place
was the easy
part

now she has to
figure out
where everything
is supposed to
go
