E – 14 – rewrite

14. Hourglass

Storytellers are historians who
weigh truth with fodder, what it
means to explore versus to

If every story is an estimation
of time passed multiplied by
the material being sifted through
our memories

We must move quickly to
crack through the glass before
we get lost in the futility of our
own devices

Or we will keep tapping the glass
from the outside, while watching
ourselves slide back and forth
in the sand

Just plead with the self to uncover
only the truth, no matter how
abrasive, no matter how buried it
wants to be
