10:25 am

E – 15 – rewrite

Excavation

15. Mushrooms
.

.
Recipe for
Glory
or
Disaster:

Take mom to
get a facial, a short
shoulder massage,
then a nice Italian meal
where you offer her a
glass of wine so that later
she’ll think it was
that glass of wine

Blend 4 shrooms into
a smoothie you will serve
to her as dessert

Sit back
and watch it happen

The stories of her teenage
crushes,
of explicit first times,
of collegiate drama
and first proposals

The good guy that got away
because she was too
hapless, too near-sighted
for someone who
loved her but
clearly
didn’t like to party

Let the
Wild
roll off her tongue

Let her tales
pour themselves into
your glass and be merry
with each gulp

Be convinced
that she can remember
when once
she was young
and cherished
and honored before
all those years later came
to diminish her palate
and extract
her taste for
the love of her
glory days
