16. inner child-father

graves have a way of
easing how we view
our fathers

only now do I see
the inner child clings
onto mistakes
so the old soul can
grow and teach us
how to release them

it’s not that you
weren’t trying hard
enough to be
some kind of perfect,
it’s that you knew
you didn’t have to be
